KC IMAGINE will offer its first event in our new DIGITAL SCENE KC series on September 14th at UMKC.  These events feature networking opportunities for digital media professionals and digital media educators in a casual, informative environment.  Each event has a theme related to an important discipline in digital media (e.g. animation, social media, video production, etc.).  Businesses and experts in the discipline are invited to offer exhibits and share their expertise during the networking events.  DIGITAL SCENE KC events are free but you must register to attend.

Our first event is “Getting Immersed in AR/VR and More…” and it features a 4:00 – 5:00 p.m. tour of UMKC’s new Robert W. Plaster Free Enterprise & Research Center followed by a networking reception at Pierson Auditorium from 5:00 – 6:30 p.m.

We will have some interesting exhibitors that participants can visit during the networking portion of our event.  Each of these exhibitors are making a business of using AR and VR technology to create their business solutions:

Our sponsor, TRANSFR will be demonstrating the AR/VR training solutions they create for workforce development.

Also, Healium will be demonstrating how they use immersive meditation with neurofeedback to reduce stress and to improve other health care outcomes.

Derek Scherer will be on hand to demonstrate how Corpusim, his open-source organism simulator, can be applied to a wide range of projects including VR, 3D interactive graphics and medical graphics.

University of Kansas School of Nursing, in partnership with KC Digital Drive, VictoryXR, Meta Facebook and Bundle of Rays Is launching a “Metaversity” Digital Twin Immersive Class this fall with a digital twin, replica campus for nursing students to attend whether they are on campus or learning remotely and 3D assets.  A VR demo will be shown.

Additional AR/VR businesses are being contacted and encouraged to participate as well.

Our second DIGITAL SCENE KC event will have an animation theme and will be located at the Trinity Animation Studio in Corporate Woods on Thursday, November 3rd.

These are invitation-only events, so if you are a digital media professional or digital media educator, contact Ron Green at rronaldgreen@gmail.com to have your email address added to the distribution list for this program.
