The KC IMAGINE program of digiSTORY KC is excited to announce its new series of networking events for digital media professionals: DIGITAL SCENE KC.  We are also excited to announce that KC Digital Drive will be sponsoring this series and supporting us in offering and promoting the program events.

This series offers happy hour events that allow digital media professionals to gather to connect, network and share ideas and trends.  This program has evolved from the Digital Media Industry Camp program co-sponsored by digiSTORY KC and Parent Camp since 2020.  This new version is now theme-based and provides the opportunity to visit important digital media locations in the Kansas City area.

We are offering this program because we believe that networking is one of the best forms of continuing education for working digital media professionals.  In these forums they can make connections, share their knowledge, learn about emerging trends in the industry and see places of interest in KC that relate to their profession.  Our primary target audience for these events is digital media professionals, but we also invite digital media educators to encourage greater collaboration opportunities such as internships and client-connected projects for students.

The events are informal networking opportunities that occur around quitting time where attendees can grab a drink (beer, wine or soft drink), a snack and meet with other area digital media professionals before heading home. DIGITAL SCENE KC events are free but you must register to attend.

In addition to casual networking time, a portion of the event is focused on sharing information related to a topic of interest to attendees.  Emphasis is placed upon new trends in the industry and topics that fill gaps in attendee knowledge (e.g. VR & AR technology, animation, video gaming, data visualization, etc.).

Events are hosted at locations of interest in the KC area.  For example, the first event features an AR/VR theme and includes a tour of the new AR/VR lab in UMKC’s Robert W. Plaster Free Enterprise & Research Center.

These are invitation-only events, so if you are a digital media professional or digital media educator, contact Ron Green at rronaldgreen@gmail.com to have your email address added to the distribution list for this program.
